Walking in the Goodview Days parade can be fun but tiring. The boys loved handing out candy and seeing lots of friends. They didn't love waiting for 2 hours for their unit to go and they didn't particularly care for the walk back to the van. The temperature was just right, though, at a very mild 75 degrees.

We decided to take a shot at camping at Prairie Island. It was a boys camping weekend but they let me hang out with them during the day. On Saturday afternoon, the weekend took a bit of an unexpected turn. I was backing the boat trailer into the river but the truck wouldn't move, then the truck wouldn't stop. Then there was smoke and lots of brake fluid squirting out everywhere. The rear brake caliper rusted off. Bummer.
Thankfully, in a previous life, Corey was an auto mechanic so he spent the rest of the day shopping for auto parts and fixing the truck.
Cameron was very sad at first.
But when life gives you a shoreline you should look for shells. So he did.
It ended up being a great afternoon of hanging out on the docks along the river front.

We went on a super fun adventure with our friend Snaps to Rush River Produce in Maiden Rock, Wisconsin. It is a lovely, tuscan-like blueberry orchard that sits atop the hill. The boys picked to their heart's content, which lasted about 4 minutes.
On the way back, we stopped at the Nelson Creamery for a yummy lunch. We chatted with a few colorful locals while we ate dessert out front and watched for participants in the Ragnar. One gentleman in particular won our hearts (and stomachs) with his homemade pickles. Needless to say, we came home with several jars.
